National Network of Partnership Schools: TWO-WAY COMMUNICATIONS: Good Practices During COVID-19

Mon, 05/09/2022

This year, this section of E-Brief shares reports from members of NNPS about how they are implementing family and community engagement activities during the continuing COVID-19 crisis.

Linda C. Hair, Title I Supervisor, Florence County School District 3 in Lake City, SC, shared an activity that supported the district’s Reading Initiative for the 2021-2022 school year. Innovative and creative teachers and staff at Lake City High School designed and implemented Reading Under the Lights, a Title I D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Event to increase students’ literacy skills. All schools in the district participated. Students and families gathered at the high school track to enjoy entertainment by students, refreshments, and quality time reading with family and friends. Activities included a story walk, crafts associated with the story walk, a book give-away, and an introduction to all school clubs. Participants ended the evening by reading under the lights at the track. See more photos in the Social Media section below.
