South Carolina Community Family Resource Centers

CFRC Logo

Co-sponsored by the Carolina Family Engagement Center (CFEC) and the SC Department of Education (SCDE) and in concert with local businesses and school districts, Community Family Resource Centers (CFRC’s) were established across South Carolina. The CFRC's are physical displays stocked with high quality information and resources for families to support their children’s learning and development. They are sited in locations where families already travel to access essential goods and services.

What is their Purpose?

To ensure that all families, including those who do not have ready access to the Internet, can easily find the information and community resources they need to help their children succeed in school and in life.

Who Do They Serve?

Materials are made available at no cost to families of all children from early childhood through grade 12. Based on local needs, materials are also included that particularly address the needs of CFEC families of focus, including:

  • Families of children receiving special education services
  • Families who are food or housing insecure
  • Families headed by grandparents, military personnel, or parents whose first language is not English
  • African American, Latino, Asian, and Native American families
  • Families of children in foster care
  • Migrant families
