The Carolina Family Engagement Center (CFEC) Student Success Toolkit for Families is designed for any parent, family member or other adult who is dedicated to supporting a student in achieving success in school. When we say “parent,” we mean any person who is taking the lead role in a student’s life to help set them up for success. The Toolkit helps the family plan for their student’s success. It has worksheets to guide them in the process of developing the plan, implementing the plan, and evaluating what is working and what needs to be changed. The Toolkit was developed to help K-12 students in families with various backgrounds. It was guided by research and actual use with more than 15 families with their adolescent students. Each Toolkit Item has an overview that describes it, followed by a blank worksheet for use, and then an example of the information that could go on that worksheet. These Toolkit materials can be printed and used by anyone who is working with students and families. Changes can also be made by the user to fit individual students and families. This Toolkit was co-developed by a team at the Carolina Family Engagement Center (CFEC), housed in the College of Education at the University of South Carolina, and in partnership with the Wandersman Center. Our team is committed to the educational and life success of students and their families. CFEC is funded by U.S. Department of Education grants (#U310A180058 and #S310A230032).
